JASON BERGER WORKED from nature in plein-air. His focus on combining the formal elements of color, shape and compositional scheme to make a good picture, never interfered with an overall joy of discovery through the act of painting. His approach was direct, his vision clear, and his paintings full of structural elegance, with the results of a positive and optimistic expression.
BEFORE TEACHING AT the Boston Museum School, Jason Berger studied in Paris for three years, under Ossip Zadkine. He was in his early 20s, when he met Matisse, Braque, Leger and Max Beckmann.
